Disclaimer

We have accepted an advert for 12 months of 2011 but have received negative feedback from a couple of parishioners that have used this business. We are therefore taking advice as to whether we can pull the advert out and give a full refund.

Is there a standard form of Disclaimer in use re adverts accepted in good faith but no recommendation implied by the magazine or any of its officials?

As we had accepted and given receipt for advert for 12 months we have to keep it running or risk breach of contract.

Our diocesan communications team have given us the following wording for use as a disclaimer:

"Advertising space in this publication is sold in good faith and the editor/publication team can take no responsibility for the quality of goods or services offered."

Whilst visiting another church (I can't remember where) I came across a disclaimer which I have adapted for our magazine. Now the following appears every month just inside the back cover. Nobody has yet commented on it (or maybe even noticed it!). People do let me know of any errors and omissions though. Disclaimer The views expressed by individuals in this Parish Magazine are not necessarily the views of the group of churches in this Benefice. External advertising in this magazine does not imply an endorsement or promotion of the advertisement, nor its content, products or services. Errors and omissions, whilst regrettable, may occur. Please advise the editor in writing and appropriate action will be taken.
